ZICB PAYS A COURTESY CALL ON CCPC

On 16th June 2025, the Zambia Industrial Commercial Bank (ZICB) paid a courtesy call on the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) to strengthen the work relationship and explore areas of collaboration. During the meeting, CCPC reaffirmed its commitment to ensure that it worked with players in the financial sector as ZICB in a bid to ensure that competition was promoted and the welfare of consumers of financial services was upheld in the economy. CCPC further urged the Bank to engage it whenever there was need for CCPC's guidance and intervention during the course of the Bank's operations. The engagement culminated in the common goal to serve the Zambian people through continued efforts to align activities in a manner that supports economic growth, financial inclusion, and a fair marketplace for all.

CCPC JOINS NALOLO DISTRICT COUNCIL FOR A ROUTINE INSPECTION AHEAD OF WORLD FOOD SAFETY DAY COMMEMORATION TOMORROW

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) Mongu office today, 6th June 2025, accompanied the Nalolo District Council on a routine inspection of trading premises aimed at safeguarding consumer welfare in the district. This activity was conducted ahead of the World Food Safety Day which is being commemorated tomorrow. The inspections focused on ensuring that traders are selling products that are safe and suitable for consumption, in line with the provisions of the Food Safety Act and the Competition and Consumer Protection Act. Findings from the exercise revealed that most of the goods inspected were compliant with the various legal requirements, indicating the growing awareness among traders regarding consumer rights and food safety standards.

AMENDMENTS TO THE REGULATIONS AND GUIDELINES

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) is in the process of amending its Competition and Consumer Protection (General) Regulations 2011 (“the Regulations”), and the Guidelines for the Administration of Fines 2019 (“the Guidelines). In this regard, the CCPC would be grateful for your comments on the Regulations and the Guidelines no later than 23rd May 2025 to zcomp@ccpc.org.zm.
