CCPC SEIZES GOODS WORTH K18,702.50 THROUGH A JOINT INSPECTION IN CHIRUNDU DISTRICT

Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) Livingstone Office in collaboration with the Chirundu Town Council, conducted a joint inspection exercise in Chirundu District, resulting in the seizure of assorted goods valued at K18,702.50.
The exercise was aimed at promoting consumer protection, product safety, and fair trading practices.
During the operation, the inspection team examined a variety of goods across different trading points and business premises.
The seized items which included cooking oil, assorted drinks, biscuits, washing pastes among others were found to be in contravention of consumer protection and product safety regulations.
The goods were deemed non-compliant with established standards designed to protect consumers from unsafe, substandard, and unfairly traded products.
In addition to enforcement, the team sensitized traders on good business practices, including compliance with the law, proper product handling, and ethical conduct.
The exercise underscores the continued commitment of both institutions to strengthening market surveillance and ensuring consumers have access to safe and quality products.
